Alva Baby website woes & Glow Bug Q: So... I'm curious about trying the Alva Baby diapers. I have read reviews that say how it's so close to bumGenius and other's that say the quality is bad. It's a bit bulky but it works. They have microfiber, hemp, and bamboo and 3 separate sizes of inserts. It is a bit pricey. With my previous child I used alva baby pocket diapers from Amazon, cheaper. For the newborn prefolds, they'll work great as doublers for overnight (or after the kid discovers water bottles). It's slightly less bulky than using 2 small prefolds but gives a similar level of performance. As for clothes, cloth diapers usually make the kid size up in pants/onesies.
I used Alva newborns, so I was only using them for about 3 months. When she grew into regular diapers I had different brands just because I had bought a secondhand stockpile. I liked the Alvas, I used the microfibre insert. The patterns were really cute, and the only time she leaked was if I waited too long to change her diaper.

The pockets on Alva run across the top of the back of the diaper - some have double elastic (on the PUL and the Microsuede), others have only elastic on the PUL layer.
